Comfort Keepers Expands Support for Veterans in the Anoka, MN Area

Veterans

Comfort Keepers has proudly served seniors and veterans in the Anoka area and surrounding communities for years. As we continue growing to better serve local families, we are excited to deepen our presence in the community and connect with more clients, caregivers, and referral partners throughout the area.

Our mission is simple: help seniors and veterans remain safe, comfortable, and independent in the homes they love.

Veteran Care Services in Anoka

At Comfort Keepers, we are honored to support the veterans who have served our country. As a VA community care partner, we have experience providing in-home care services to hundreds of veterans, helping them maintain safe, happy, and independent lives at home.

Through the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (VACCN), eligible veterans may qualify for in-home support services based on their physical and medical needs. Depending on the individual situation, Comfort Keepers services may include home health aides, skilled nursing support, and other types of in-home care.

Veterans in the Anoka area can also seek guidance from their local County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO). CVSOs help veterans, spouses, survivors, and dependents understand and apply for benefits available through the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. These services can be an important first step in accessing the care and support veterans have earned.  They can be reached at (763) 324-4500

Comfort Keepers is committed to helping veterans and their families better understand their options and connect with the resources they need.

Comfort Keepers Services in the Anoka Area

Research continues to show that most seniors prefer to age in place, remaining in the home they know and love while staying connected to their community. Comfort Keepers provides in-home senior care services that make this possible.

We believe every care plan should be customized to fit the individual’s needs, goals, health conditions, and living situation. The best care does more than assist with daily tasks. It enhances quality of life by promoting engagement, supporting physical and emotional wellness, and helping seniors maintain purpose, dignity, and joy.

Our services are designed to support both physical needs and overall well-being. At Comfort Keepers, we strive every day to elevate the lives of our clients and provide peace of mind for their families.

Our in-home care services include:

  • Companion Care to support social connection and emotional well-being
  • Personal Care to assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Transportation Services to help clients get safely to appointments, errands, and activities
  • Respite Care to give family caregivers time to rest and recharge
  • Private Duty Nursing provided by Registered Nurses (RNs) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for advanced care needs
  • Specialized Care Services including Alzheimer’s and dementia care, 24-hour care, and post-hospital recovery support

How to Begin the Senior Care Journey

Life can change quickly, and many families are unsure when the right time is to begin care. In most cases, veterans and their loved ones contact us when a need has already developed. Often, they are unaware of the benefits that may be available to them through the VA.

Some veterans have seen a VA doctor but have never discussed home care services. Others may not yet be connected to the VA system at all. Wherever you are in the process, Comfort Keepers can help guide you.

If care is needed right away, private pay services can begin immediately. If the veteran later qualifies for VA-funded home care, we may be able to transition billing to the VA while continuing services with Comfort Keepers, depending on approval and provider selection.

Steps veterans and families can take

If you already have a VA doctor:
Schedule an appointment if your condition has changed or if more support is needed at home. During the visit, ask your VA doctor about home care benefits and whether in-home services may be appropriate. You can also request Comfort Keepers as your preferred provider.

If you do not have a VA doctor:
Contact your local CVSO to ask about the best way to connect with a VA clinic or hospital. In some cases, you may also call the nearest VA location directly to ask about scheduling an appointment. Depending on your situation, you may need a referral from your primary care provider.

If help is needed before VA approval is completed:
You can begin services privately while working through the VA process. If approved later, you can request to continue with Comfort Keepers as your provider, and eligible services may then transition to VA billing. Families may also choose to add private pay services if additional help is needed beyond what the VA covers.

Supporting Independence at Home

The VA has made important improvements in recent years to help veterans access care more easily and receive the support they deserve. We encourage veterans and their families to explore every benefit available to them.

At Comfort Keepers, we believe the best place for many seniors to thrive is right at home, surrounded by familiar routines, memories, and the people they love.

So when families ask, “What is the best option for senior care near me?” we want them to think:  It may be right here at home with Comfort Keepers.
